Cole/Turner/Wilson - Romani connections
« on: Sunday 03 March 19 22:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello to all! Thanks in advance for your time, and any help!
I'm in the states, and began researching my Romani connections in my family about a year ago. Have done pretty well piecing a lot of it together. DNA matches and FB groups really helped there. Some of the family names in my tree are Grigg, Smith, Lovell (way back), Boswell (way back), Scott, Green, Berry, Ward.

However, I have 3 huge blocks. Any help or insight into these people or families would be helpful. I'm 95% sure #1 and 2 were from Romani families (matches/trees/etc), but really unsure on #3.

#1 William Cole (used Burnett as last name also): My 6th great grandfather. Was sent to the US as a bonded prisoner as far as we can tell. Born 1730 in Selborne. Married to Elizabeth, last name was possibly Heath (unsure here). I can't find his parents names or really anything on the family. I did manage to find a picture of his grandson (very dark complexioned for 2 English born parents).

#2 William Turner : My 5th ggf. Born in 1739 in Rochdale. Married to Sarah Scholes. Only information I really have.

#3 Helen Wilson: My 7th ggm. Born in 1714 in Scotland. Banished for life. Possibly for her family's involvement in the Jacobite rebellion.

Anything...any help...is welcome. These are some of my closer relatives that immigrated/were sent over, so I'm curious to learn more about them.

I am currently researching my Lambert lines as well. Anyone with connections are welcome to reach out!
