Service Record
« on: Sunday 03 March 19 23:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello People.

I recently got the service record of my late uncle. One part of it , is the statement of service. This part, however I do not understand. I assume this is to where he was posted. This would give me great help in understanding exactly where he was posted. He was oddly in the 10th Bn Black Watch in 1940 then later transfered to the 1st.

There is little to no information on the 10th.

Thanks for your help.

The 10th BW was a training battalion from which trained men went to fighting units.

The draft RNGYH (just the code number for an overseas draft of men to somewhere) looks like his posting to 1st Battalion possibly to N Africa.  Check the remainder of his record for entries with unit names which (unless lost) should be able to be cross checked with the dates.  This bit of his record, as you have seen, says nothing.  That said, where did you see he was in 1st Battalion?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
