Ukranian Russian great uncle Paul Panasuk
« on: Tuesday 05 March 19 14:40 GMT (UK) »
Good day everyone,

I am attempting to trace my great uncle, Paul Panasuk, who married my grandmother's sister Mary Rayment. This fellow's history is very elusive to me although I used to visit them in Hamilton Ontario when I was a boy during the 1960s and early 70s. At that time I believe he was retired (from what i do not know). My great aunt Mary was born 1904.

I do know from family discussions Paul was born in the Ukraine and escaped from there during the revolution to come to Canada. I do have pictures of him from my mom during his younger years as well as my own when I went to annual family reunions during his older years. His death is a bit of a mystery as well since the cemetery he was supposed buried in do not records of him being buried there after his cremation. I am guessing he arrived in Canada between the 2 world wars and married Mary just before or after WW2. Unfortunately I have not found their marriage record. I believe he died during the late 1970 or early 80s. Mary died in 1994 about a dacade after Paul.

Any info regarding my great uncle is appreciated.

Looks like the son L. played football in high school - at Central Tech in Toronto.  Then, he went on to play college football at East Texas State in the USA.  There are a few articles mentioning him.

Hi RunKitty,

Sorry I have been away without any access to this for a while. I knew Paul and his wife Mary all my life and as far as I know he and/or she never lived in Toronto. I have always known them to live in Hamilton Ontario. They both died in Hamilton and buried in Hamilton at Whitechapple cemetery there. Mary was born in Hamilton. However when I checked there, I was told neither one is actually buried there. I am wondering if they were given to a family member and has since gone into hiding?

I dont know when and where this pair marries, I am attempting to find out. Unfortunately everyone from that generation is gone now.

I'll keep pressing on, thx again
