This from the 1939 Register baffles me. Can anyone help? (born 16 June 1884)
Thanks, Toby.

A Draperís Chequer perhaps?

In drapery stores there used to be a system where payment was put in small containers and sent across a system of wires to a central point rather than individual tills. I wonder if he was the person who dealt with payments - or in the accounts department?

Thanks heywood. Does seem a possibility. In 1911 he was a draper's porter aged 28.. Be interesting to see what the 1921 census tells us. Hopefuly , like last time, the census will be revealed a little early. T
