Yes you are right Jool, it may happen yet. The box itself is an interesting object, it's an A5 size box file with a paper insert stuck to the lid advertising stationery.
OK...who was Eve?...this must have been after 1948 as it mentions Felicity and Doreen...Rupert's wife and Daughter  :P ;D ;D

Eve was Evelyn Grace Ord (1876-1959).  She was Rupert's aunt (his father's sister).  She married Louis Auguste Marie Fevez in 1924.

Her address on the probate index is the same as is in the letter above.

There is a tree on Ancestry with photos of her.  :)

I thought you all might like to see these sketches done by Ralph, these are both back to back...It looks like Private J.E. Hays was KIA in France on June 26th 1916  ::) Sadly I can only find a medal card for him.

Hi Carol

Private J.E. Hays KIA in France on June 26th 1916 was in the 11th Btn. East Lancs Regt.

I think the name on the drawing refers to Private J E Heys of the 8th Btn. East Lancs Regt. Regimental Number 17173. KIA March 8th 1916.  He is on the Medal Rolls and is mentioned here https://www.baxendenstjohn.org.uk/baxenden-lads-heys-je/

ADDED: Also mentioned here: https://haslingdens.blogspot.com/2012/

More beautiful drawings too  :)

Carol

Thank you Carol, I do have a pile of photos (somewhere  ::)) which may need a little TLC.  I will dig them out and have a look through.  Having said that, I really enjoy investigating these mysteries so the pleasure is all mine  :-*
