Perhaps it was noticed in 1950 that the DOB was wrong and they showed the adoption order as an official document to get the DOB corrected.

So using surname as Vickers and mmn as Dale, FreeBMD throws up 3 children:

Margaret P - September q 1929 - Bury
(Not David) - September 1934 - Bury
Barbara - June 1938 - Heywood

Ancestry, with the same search criteria, throws up "Peter" which further complicates things. Looks like he died in 1992 and the index gives a DoB as 23/6/1934 so a Q3 registration is likely.

The name of the son b 1934 was deliberately not mentioned earlier in the thread as the redaction meant he might still be living.

Have you looked for a baptism on LANOPC?
Edit. Can find only 1, a male child, (not David), baptised at Emmanuel, Holcombe 1934. (Added) Birth date in baptism register 23rd June 1934.

P.S. See a male Vickers, baptised 22nd January 1933 at St. Peter, Bolton, Born 23rd Nov. 1932. Abode 30 Wardle St., Haulgh. Parents Frank Clifford Vickers & Ellen.
(I didn't search far enough afield from Holcombe before.)
Edit. Forenames removed in case they are alive.

Margaret Patricia (1929) and Barbara (1938) were both registered in Ramsbottom sub-district. Ramsbottom sub-district changed from Bury to Heywood. www.lancashirebmd.org.uk
Earlier still, Holcombe, where Percy & Ada Vickers lived in 1930s, had its' own sub-district.

Edit. Birth registration of a male Vickers 1933, Farnworth sub-district (Bolton). Mother's maiden name Rostron. (Lancashire BMD) This may be the boy baptised at St. Peter, Bolton, 22nd Jan. 1933.
Edit. Forename removed in case he's alive.

Would a fresh birth certificate have been issued in 1950?

(I ask  because there is a correct forename Vickery, MMN Vickery in the indexes? )

Then we don't need to be coy about his given name, because the 23/6/1934 birthdate ties into the 1992 (Bury) death of Peter Vickers.

No, an adoption would not generate a fresh birth certificate.

So it was highly unlikely there would have been 2 children born to the same parents with birth dates 28th Dec 1933 and 23rd June 1934.
A David Vickers of Haslingden, Rossendale, Lancashire, died 24th Feb. 1980. (Find a will Gov UK). I don't see a will for Peter.
