Peter Hulcote marriage to Sarah Cross London 1657
« on: Wednesday 06 March 19 15:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I would be grateful for a translation of an old marriage record of a Peter Hulcote and Sarah Cross in London on Jun 1657 which I found on Ancestry but am having difficulty reading the whole text.

I tried to attach a photo of image but too big.

Many thanks, Paul

The needs to be below the 500kb limit to be able to post so if you can't reduce the file size then Rosie's suggestion would be best.

Open the digital image in an image viewer to a good readable size.

Then use the Snipping Tool to make a clip of the appropriate text.

Usually a clip like this will come in at under 100 Kb.

It would help if you could make a sharper image just of the area of her name and the next word.

Packe knight one of ye Aldermen and one

Xpofer = Christopher

I'm not sure what is going on with his surname.

A clearer image of this section would help but it's definitely not Hulcote here.

Many thanks for the quick response.

My Wife’s maiden name was Hulks. It appears that the name spelling changed during the 17th century, and the family originated from Alkmaar, Holland, and I believe the records there showed Peter to be Pieter Hoolck.

Very confusing!
