Finding a grave in London

Yes - it's turning into a hando "go-to" place for London graves!

Still stumped with mine though. If they were too poor - could they be buried with no record??

Nothing in the Richmond cemeteries i.e. Richmond, East Sheen, Hampton, Old Mortlake, Teddington, Twickenham

Hammersmith and Fulham cemetery records don't seem to be online.

Could someone please clarify, are the FamilySearch Brookwood records separate, or does a standard search include Brookwood?

PS, it's an amazing place if you haven't been. Or if you have!

Brookwood in the LDS catalogue, the films with a magnifying glass icon are supposed to be indexed (you should be able to click on one of the said icons and search for names in a film that way)

Fabulous link - it's the first time i've seen the Brookwood listings.

Still no sign of George Pitt or Amy Caroline Pitt though! The seearch continues...

Have you contacted the council to see if that 1925 burial is not a typo? As you said above, it seems a strange coincidence.

I checked the records and there was another Amelia Pitt that died in 1925 - so the record seems to be correct and my 1924 Amy remains a mystery!

What about Lewisham which is next to Southwark to the east? They have Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries. Also Hither Green Cemetery,  which has a crematorium though I don't know when it opened.

Since the Pitts lived in north Southwark, and Southwark's cemeteries are all in the south of the borough, they would have had to travel to get to any cemetery.

Did Southwark check their cremation records?

The Lewisham records are on deceasedonline, and there's no sign unfortunately of either George or Amy Caroline. The Southwark records DO include the cremations apparently as well, so that's that out. I've checked every London directory I can find.

Lambeth Cemetery and Streatham Cemetery have not been mentioned yet. According to deceasedonline the burial records for these two cemeteries are to be added at a later date.
