Rhosllanerchrugog 1835 map
« on: Thursday 07 March 19 11:22 GMT (UK) »

The Clwyd FHS has produced a  listing of household heads corresponding to those listed on the 1835 map of Rhos. Given the missing 1841 census records for the Wrexham/Ruabon area, this is probably the best indication of households in this particular part of the region.

The listing and map are  available at the Clwyd FHS Resource Centre in Cefn and the listing has been published in the current journal.

This listing is particularly useful because comments link the household heads in 1835 to their descendants living there in 1895.

So I found my great grandfather Isaac Jenkins (b. 1844) mentioned twice:
198. Evan Jenkins - uncle of Isaac Jenkins
230. John Jones - father of the wife of Isaac Jenkins.
Anglesey - Thomas:
Bodedern, Heneglwys, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll.
Anglesey - Jones:
Llanfaethlu, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll, Rhoscolyn.
Anglesey - Parry:Llanfair-yn-Neubwll.
Anglesey - Lewis:Llanbadrig.
Anglesey - Willins & Tyran/Tyrer

Caernarvonshire - Evans and Lewis:Llanberis.

Denbighshire - Jenkins:Llandynan, Llantysilio, Cerrigydrudion.
Denbighshire - Jones:Rhos, Ruabon.
Denbighshire - Jones:Henllan

Flintshire - Mathews:Northop

That's good news, a few years ago I digitally restored a copy of the 1835 map from a series of photos sent me by Denbighshire archives and returned a copy to them, so it may be the same file.
Oxfordshire: SHAYLER, HERN,
Gloucestershire: MEADOWS, HERBERT,
Worcestershire: GRIFFIN, WOOD,
Denbighshire: WILLIAMS, JAMES, EDWARDS, DAVIES.

I am researching the families that lived on Newtown Mountain in the mid 1800s. I am interested in the Jackson family and making contact with the family. Anyone interested?
