Black House Inn - William Ord

As part of a local history project, I have been sent this badly damaged photograph of a local village pub.  Can anyone please perform a miracle and just remove the cracks and scratches.  It is about 100 years old and is the only known photo in existence.  The building is still there but it has been converted to a house.  Many thanks

Just for information, the white masses in the front foreground, right hand side and roof are actually snow not a defect in the picture.  This pub is in one of many areas in the North East where snowfall was always heavy in days gone by!

It is Blackhouse just outside of Craghead about 8-10 miles out of Durham City in the direction of Stanley.

This is the best copy I can get, unfortunately and I don't want to harass the elderly owner to let me take it and scan it again.

JenB you are also right - it was closed down for a while and then became a private house a few years ago.
But prior to that, from being built, it was The Blackhouse Inn.
There is a bit of an enigma over the death of one of its landlords over on the County Durham board.
You can check it out under the name of William Ord most records have the death as 1930.  The family and the gravestone say 1930.  I hope to get some responses there that might clear it up.

I have tried to restore this photo but as has already been mentioned the scan is not very good. On the photo of the Charlaw Inn I see there are three windows upstairs on this side of the building, but I can't tell from the scan whether the original Black House had two or three. I have done two versions for you so you can decide.
