Dixon Officer

Dixon Officer (1863-1944) was born in Ireland to parents James Officer and Mary Jane Dixon, who married in 1855 in Shankill, Belfast. He moved with his parents to Pendleton, Lancashire and married Sarah Jane Ireland in Bradford in November 1883; they had 4 daughters. I have pinpointed Dixon and his family in the England census' 1881-1939.

Dixon had a brother, Robert, born 16 March 1872, in Pendleton. Their father, James Officer, died around this time, although I can't conclusively pinpoint his death, and his widow, Mary Jane, remarried to Patrick Smith in Pendleton in July 1877.

Does anyone have any information at all on the father, James Officer?  Thank you.

Dixon and Sarah's photos appeared in the Manchester Evening News, 17 Nov 1943, under the heading "Their 50th Wedding Day" - this was quickly corrected in the 19 Nov edition under the heading "Diamond Wedding".

Yes, James was a spinner, and no, there was no age information on his marriage record.
It is his birth/baptism and death that I am trying to pin down, but I realise it might be impossible

Do you have any potentials for his death registration? Index to deaths should state age, although it may not be accurate. Have you searched death registrations for England and Ireland?
Were the family not on 1871 English census?
What religious denomination were they?

Was the marriage record a certificate from Irish civil registration of marriage or a church register?
Civil registration of marriage began 1845 in Ireland but not until 1864 for marriages in Catholic churches.
Does it say James was full age?
Does it name parents and abode?
Were there any more children born between Dixon and the family moving to England? Was Dixon definitely born in 1863? Any children before Dixon?
