@ Drew, they've travelled well south, have you considered the possibility of a connection to the Border gypsies, some of whom were Douglas's?

Well considering the Birmingham area was a hive of activity at the start of the Industrial Revolution I'm sure many Scottish families made the long march south.
Actually I never even heard of the Border Gypsies before you mentioned it Skoosh. A quick google search introduced me to a page filled with information about them. Very interesting, but proving a connection would be near on impossible, certainly a possibility though.....

Although, you're probably not too far from the truth anyway. My family is quite literally spread out all across Australia they may as well be gypsies!
