help reading place of birth on 1871 census
« on: Monday 11 March 19 10:37 GMT (UK) »
Thank you for any help that can be given.

I have attached an extract from the 1871 census (RG10/1269/82/13) for my 3xG grandparents (Thomas Clarke and Ann Taylor).  I would like help please with Ann's place of birth.

In 1841 she is living in Catmore and born of same county
In 1851 she is still in Catmore and born Welford (abt 8 miles away)
In 1861 she is still in Catmore and born Wilfull (which I can imagine could be Welford with an accent!)
In 1871 she is still in Catmore but the place of birth seems to have completely changed to W??stone

Any help with this last place name is appreciated.

I think its Weston, which is a short distance north-west of Welford.

Definitely Weston! Weston and Welford are side by side.
