My Gt Grandfather was James Walters b 14 Aug 1846 at Rotherfield died  21 Oct 1922 Crowborough. Marriage certificate for James gives a wife Charlotte Care b 1852 at Withyham, father as James Walter (no s) b 1802 Withyham and mother Maria Botting b 1812. from here records are very few and far between. Looking for any help with this side of my family

Can you tell us where and when they married? I suspect not England as our marriage certs don't give mothers name nor years of birth of parents!


When did they emigrate?   And when did they return (I see died Crowborough)?


Have you got them on censuses while they were in this country?

Charlotte Care can be seen on 1861 and 1871 censuses, parents John and MArgaret. Shout if you need details (indexed Carl on Ancestry)

And JAmes Walter age 3, on 1851

They married 1 February 1873 at Rotherfield
