Mary Medcalf
Administrative Bonds are issued when a person dies usually without a will but with assets that need to be sold or distributed to heirs.
Whoever administers the estate whatever the size would then have to show the court that assets were handled properly.
There are usually papers filed when the administration of assets is completed.

Thomas Metcalf married Elizabeth Charnley by license 8 September 1834 at St Mary's witness John Monks? and Mary Metcalf (sister?).
The license may give more information Lancashire Archives ref ARR11, Archdeaconry of Richmond.

To your point that Rigby is your family line. do you follow female lines or are you just curious about Mary Ann's father Thomas Metcalf and his family?

Thanks again admong, I will follow up on the license. The Cuthbert and Mary marriage at Grinton in 1798 was also by license. Is that another coincidence! I follow both lines in the hope of a good story and to get a better understanding of where i come from.
