What did people wear and do on sailing ships in the 1840s, 50s & 60s?

Hi,
I'm wondering what my ancestors (passengers and crew) would have worn onboard sailing ships in the 1840s, 50s & 60s (& later for that matter, up to early 1900s on other ships) on voyages from England to Australia (particularly to Queensland, especially Moreton Bay: Brisbane). Is there a good site I could look at please?
It's also just about life on the ships: what they would have taken, eaten and done. I have borrowed a book by Bill Barlow about the voyage of the City of Brisbane in 1862, which has 2 diaries in it & it is great, but I'm just wondering about a little more that would be accessible just online.

I know it's to New Zealand, but possibly some via Australia, and no doubt it would have the same sort of voyage anyway.

A lot of the passengers mostly wore chains!

Considering the fact that Passenger lists show many children were born on the voyage, I have an inkling that I know what they were doing - or not wearing!!
