Cant find in 1861 census

Hello,

I am trying to find my ancestor Samuel Bennion in the 1861 census. I have been using FindMyPast for this. He was born in 1794 Adderley Shropshire. This sometimes appears as Audlem Cheshire.

He was married to Ann 1803 who was born in Whitchurch and probably had his daughter Jane with him born 1844 Audlem.

They probably will have been in Cheshire or Shropshire for this census.

Do you know that he was still alive in 1861?

Are wife and daughter missing in 1861 as well?

He seems to die beginning of 1871.
Widow is on 1871 with daughter Jane who is by then married

I couldn't find any of them on 1861!

Yes that’s right 1871 he died. I’ve had it before where people are missing in the 1861 census of FindMyPast but do appear on Ancestry.

My first thought was wondering what mistranscribed spelling of "Bennion" we might find. Unfortunately I can't see them at the moment, either under the correct spelling or any other. That doesn't mean they aren't hiding somewhere of course.

I searched through Cheshire and Shropshire with no surname to see if it had been misspelled but didn’t spot him. What site did you use?

They could be on one of the missing pieces. 1861 has a great many pieces missing. This is a general listing but there are individual pages missing which aren't listed.
