Mendoza Smith and Ann Hodgkin
« on: Tuesday 12 March 19 22:09 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I've noticed a baptism

Mendoza Smith 3rd Dec 1789 Broughton Oxfordshire , Parents Jonas and Constance Smith

Would this be the Mendoza that married Ann Hodgkin and had

Hannah 1817 Boston Lincs

Nathaniel 1820 Wellingore Lincs

Tabitha 1823 Great Casterton

Susannah 1827 Selston Nots

Patience 1831 North Witham Lincs

Unity 1834 Willingham by Stow Lincs

Would it make him Agrippina's brother.

I was also trying to work out which family Ann Hodgkins belongs to , does anyone please have any ideas. Could she be a sister to Roseanna and Sarah who married Edward and Benjamin Holland and Elizabeth who married John Sherriff.

I was also wondering please if anyone knows much about John Smith's parents and siblings , he married Martha Sherriff.

Any help , input and info would be really appreciated. Many Thanks

Hello

I'm currently doing my family tree, Mendoza also known as Theodosius Smith is my 5th time great grandfather married to Ann Hodgkin, their children Hannah, Tabitha also known as Tapperty, Patience Susannah.

Agrippina/Gripy Smith is Mendoza's sibling. There's also another two brothers and two sisters.

Constance and Jonas parents to Mendoza.

I don't have any information on Ann's family or John Smith

I hope that helps  :)

There was another Mendoza Smith baptised the same year but he died in 1809

"Mendoza Smith buried in 1809 may have been a gipsy named after Daniel Mendoza, a pugilistic champion about that time" A Pugillist is another word for a boxer.
