Richard Stacey c 1776 & Mary
« on: Tuesday 12 March 19 22:56 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I just wondered whether someone would mind looking up a marriage for Richard and Elizabeth, possibly in Trent or Sherbourne somewhere between 1787 when he was 21 to 1807 when his son Thomas was born and baptised in Trent. I am trying to find out what Mary's maiden name might have been.
He could have moved from Trent to North Petherton and then back to have Thomas 1807 and Sarah 1812 but the Richard and Mary at North Petherton might be 2 different people!
Thanks for reading,

Best wishes,
Emma

I can't see a marriage for a Richard Stacey to an Elizabeth anywhere in Dorset. There is however banns for a Richard Stacey and Patience Rule in Trent in 1799 in Trent.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Ah thank you very much for checking. I am so sorry I was supposed to type Mary not Elizabeth. Perhaps he married Patience and then she passed away as Richard and Mary's children Thomas 1807 and Sarah 1812 were born when he was 41 and 46.

Thank you so much for checking and giving me a new lead. Much appreciated.

5 April 1807 Thomas son of Richard and Mary Stacy (sic) in Trent.

Added: I can't see a burial for a Patience.

April 5th, that is great thank you, I think this Thomas is my 4th great grandfather. Maybe there were 2 Richards then if Patience is not recorded as dying (I can see a death for a Patience Stacey for 1840) then Richard married to Mary must be a different guy. I am a bit stuck with Mary as I can't find their marriage.

Thanks again for looking, you have been really helpful and I appreciate what you have done very much :)

If you don't have a subscription to ancestry, go to your nearest library. Most have access to Ancestry and you can go through the images of the Trent registers. I've found that often the indexing isn't the best and by looking at the images yourself you sometimes find what you're looking for.

That is great advice, I will do that, thank you :)
