Mary Bention?
« on: Wednesday 13 March 19 08:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi!
Can anyone help with the following?

I have a Mary Bention (?) marrying Richard Inman on 25th September 1660 at Stow Cum Quy Cambridge.
Richard Inman was baptised on 20th September 1633 at St Benedicts Cambridge and died in1689.
I believe Mary may have died in 1669?
Trying to find baptism of a possible son of the above Thomas Inman c1661 - 1669?
Also any help with Marys parentage would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks Andy :)

Do you have Stow cum Quy parish registers  :-\  A transcript by Peggy Watts and memebers of CFHS has these alternatives for the surname BENTON/BENTOWN/BENTURN/BENTSON, I also wondered about Benson.

I can't see any Inwood baptisms in SCQ or possible baptisms for Mary

A transcript by Peggy Watts and memebers of CFHS has these alternatives for the surname BENTON/BENTOWN/BENTURN/BENTSON

Using Cambs. FHS search facility on their site it returns this for Mary's surname at marriage..

"BENTOWN [BT BENTURN] Mary   1660   Stow cum Quy"

I can't see a Richard Inman in the Marriage Index for 1660, his surname is transcribed as Juman...

"JUMAN Richard   1660   Stow cum Quy"

I notice a pay-site has them as Inman/Bention.

Also consider Bentham as a possibility. Pronounced "Bentam" I have seen it written in older records as "Benton". There were Bentham's in Cambridgeshire.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.
