Occupation 1939 register
« on: Wednesday 13 March 19 12:28 GMT (UK) »
I can't make out a word of this occupation listed in the 1939 census (second line down). The man in question was 53 and began receiving a police pension in 1932 if this helps.

Thanks in advance.

Last word is 'Police'...just need the 2 words in middle  ;); 2nd word looks like 'croft' & 3rd word looks like 'Works' but that doesn't make sense.

It sometimes helps if you tell us who you are looking at and where they are living

Yes, there seem to be a lot of upstrokes from line below interfering so it would be useful to eliminate them.

The offered transcription looks good - Hawker Aircraft Works Police.  Could we be talking Hawker Siddeley?

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
