How silly of me! I was viewing this record under his wife's entry as she is my ancestor. I didn't think to view it separately under his name for the transcription. I am still learning but will know to do this in future! Thank you everyone for your time.

Hawker and Police in the same line were throwing me. In family history we tend to think of Hawker as someone who is selling things. 
A good example of us having a bit more information on the document needing deciphering really does help.

Thanks for the info on Hawker Aircraft, I'm guessing he was the equivalent to a security officer for them.

The Hawker factory was (is?) in a residential area of Kingston. I lived near the factory for about a month in the early 60's whilst waiting for my flat that I had bought to be completed.
