Catherine Charlwood
« on: Wednesday 13 March 19 14:00 GMT (UK) »
Catherine Charlwood married George Dickinson on 9th October 1800 at Saint Mary, St Marylebone, London, but I've not been able to locate her parents through a baptism record. I wonder if anyone can assist.

Welcome to rootschat

Do you have her on census to give an idea as to where and when she was born.

And how old was she then?  (Over 50 years since her marriage, so doing well!)

This must be the entry - but that says age 64......making her only 13 in 1800 for the marriage you refer to....

1851
22 Cavendish Sq
Catherine Dickinson 64 widow Landed Proprieter bn Middx
Frances 31 married dtr  bn Swallowfield Berkshire
Cecil grandson 5 bn Paddington
5 servants (Butler, ladies maid,  2 house maids, cook )

[Looks like a well to do family - so Wills may well be important tools in your research

If I have the right person, then she dies in Sep 1861. Admin (with Will) - sole exetrutrix mentioned as daughter Frances, single woman, but now married to John Edward Geils and Living in Glasgow.

So that is why Frances was also a Dickinson on the 1851 census, she wasnt married after all!

Modified:  Ignore me - senior moment!  That was a Catherine, we want a Charlotte!
Can you direct us to the 1851 - I cant see it!

Modified again:  Gosh - Im worse that I thought, I was right first time, we DO want a Catherine (why did I suddenly think Charlotte?) and I cant work out how to get rid of the crossing outs.

Modified for third time after reading reply#8! : Thanks Rosie, successfully removed crossing out!

 :) :) ;) Sounds like me on a good day,liz.

At any rate,I don't think that's the right family as her husband's name was Charles not George:

DEATHS.

... September 2, at her house, 22. Cavendish Square, Catherine, relict of the late Charles Dickinson, Esq., Queen Charlton Manor, in the county of Somerset, and Farley Hill, Berkshire, in the 75th year of her age.
September 10, 1861 - Sherborne Mercury - Sherborne, Dorset, England

So we need the 1851 census . that was the only one "bn Middx" I could see - but based on my performance so far I wouldn't take much notice of anything I say!

Many thanks for your help/suggestions, the 1851 census is the same that I have, looks like they were well off, just seems uncanny that I cannot find a baptism cert. Haven't found a will for her yet either.

Thanks
Robert

lizdb I think that you have to remove the bracketed  's'     from each end of the post
