Bredfield MIs
« on: Thursday 14 March 19 13:05 GMT (UK) »
In 1927 Charles Partridge noted the monumental inscriptions in Bredfield churchyard dating from 1734 to 1926. Fifty years later I checked some of the gravestones and compiled a transcript of his work (typed by my late mother) indicating the locations of many which had been moved c.1961.

My scanned PDF document, too big for RootsChat, can be downloaded from Dropbox (here).

A copy given to the Suffolk Record Office in 1977 is available there on microfilm, together with the original manuscript.

Images of an expanded but deficient version are accessible in the members' area of the Suffolk FHS website. Although my name is on the title page, I had no knowledge of this new edition until yesterday and cannot vouch for its accuracy. There are certainly errors on that first page, where the misspelt word "Ammendments" and the year "1972" inspire no confidence.

The following surnames (including a few used as forenames) are indexed:

Now made small enough for RootsChat, a new copy of my transcript of Bredfield churchyard inscriptions is attached. I'll be grateful to learn of any errors.

Many thanks for the attached file, and for your work checking the gravestones all those years ago.  Thomas and Mary Glanfield buried here are my 5x great-grandparents.
