More Plume problems

I already have members of my family who used aliases in their criminal activities but the following, if my suspicions are justified, leaves me speechless - well, almost.
  Lewis Samuel Plume b1884 Holborn Mar 1b 816, mmn Lyons is very probably part of my family.
His parents, Henry Plume and Fanny (Frances) Lyons married 1882 Sep Holborn 1b 1213 and can be found in 1891 Census in Islington with Henry 39 b Clerkenwell, sorter Post Office, and Fanny 30 bSt Lukes (RG12, piece 156, folio 24, page 41)with Lewis.
1901 Census has Lewis as a boarder in Walthamstow but no sign of Henry and Fanny.
1911 Census has Lewis with Charles John and Susan Jane Plume in Stoke Newington - Charles  age 49 b  Southwark, Regd Letters Branch, GPO, Susan age 46 b Mile End, as their son. Charles & Susan married 28 yrs with 2 children - 1 died.
1901 Census for Charles and Susan has them at Islington age 40 and 36 respectively, Charles an Overseer GPO bClerkenwell and Susan b St Georges in the East (RG13, piece 181, folio 26).
Given that I haven't been able to find a census return for Henry and/or Fanny for 1901, 1911 or any death details for them from 1891 to 1911 which are close, what is the likelihood that Henry became Charles and Fanny became Susan?
Also, a possible marriage between Charles Plume and Susan Ann Goose in 1879, Southwark didn't seem to have any children.
From the 1911 return mentioning 2 children - Henry and Fanny did have 2 children but 1 died shortly after birth.
Just an extra bit, Lewis died in 1951 in Rockdale, NSW ref 12441 with parents listed as Henry Plume and Frances Lyons.

In the 1879 marriage, Charles Plume (30, railway signal inspector) not marry Susan Ann Mary Goose.  He married Lois Eliza Fish on 28 Oct 1879, St George the Martyr, Southwark.

Susan had married Ebenezer Salmon at the same church on 13 Oct 1879.

Chas J Plume was appointed a postman by the British Postal Service (London, E.C.) in 1886.

He became a messenger in the London Postal Service in June 1887.

Thanks for the information. I must have picked up the wrong spouse.
Just to add to the confusion, Henry did have a cousin called Charles John bc1858. He seems to have spent most of his life either in court, or in prison; in 1876 he married Hannah French; in 1881 census he was a labourer in Clerkenwell.

There is a marriage on 26 Feb 1916 at St James Clerkenwell for a Lewis Samuel PLUME to a Lois Violet COOK. He is 33, a soldier with jeweller in brackets. He names his father as Charles John PLUME, postal servant.

The shipping list to Australia in 1924 has him as a diamond setter which matches with 1911. Also has him as single.

Yes, that is the right marriage but it only muddies the water a bit more as Charles John is mentioned as Lewis's father. The occupations fit!
I wish I had been a fly on the wall then - it might have helped to understand what was going on.

I have been checking out the 1921 Census for Henry A Plume, wife Frances - no luck.
Similarly no luck with Charles J and Susan J Plume.
I did find Lewis S Plume and wife Violet in Lambeth (RG15/02095 RD25RS4ED5) though.
So, looking at bmds for 1911-1921 no luck there either.
I am wondering if they changed their names yet again in which case I should just add them to the unsolved queries list.
Any hints?
