Thank you Carole  That is David.  So now maybe I know Thomas's siblings.   I found at Scotlandspeople that Thomas was born at 1 Park Lane in 1921 and David was a Detective Inspector

Were there any children in the 1891 census?  I found separate listings for each Margaret 8, Jeanie 6 and Elizah 3, Robert 2 and Charles 1 on family search.  I assume Robert and Charles are David and Agnes's sons.  Also there was a Wm 34 and Eliz 36.  Would they be David's siblings?  Perhaps some of the children above were Wm and Eliz's children on same page at different addresses?

In 1891 there are Robert age 2 and Charles age 1 with David and Agnes  William and Elizabeth are with there children Margaret Elizabeth and Jeanie in another household
In the 1911 census there are 2 more children in the family
Christina age 6
John age 4
There is a death of a Christina Kirkwood in 1990 in Irvine with mother's MS Jeffery
In 1886 there's a marriage of a David Kirkwood to Agnes Jeffery in Irvine
Thomas birth cert will have his mother's MS if it is Jeffery the 1886 marriage will have both the parents names including Mother's MS which will take you back another generation and David's and Agnes's  siblings

Went and Colin

Yes David is married to Agnes Jeffrey 3 Dec 1886, Irvine. I appreciate both of you helping me out with the censuses. I found Agnes born in Irvine 01 Nov 1866 to Wm Jeffrey and Agnes Hunter on Family Search. So that is where Thomas's second name comes from.  I was thinking that the William in the 1891 census might be David's brother, but he was born in Renfrewshire not Dunbartonshire although that William's wife Elizabeth was born in Dunbartonshire so maybe they are related. Thanks again
