Information on Leslie william Gordon Reid
« on: Saturday 16 March 19 12:09 GMT (UK) »
I must admit, that this request is a bit of a shot in the Dark, but I'm trying to locate any records in Canada regarding my Great Uncle Leslie William Gordon Reid. (Born 1899)

The only information I have on him, as follows, is a is a bit vague.

He emigrated to Canada in 1923 (Arrived 5th May according to the arrivals document I have)

He married his first wife, Gertrude, in 1930 and his second wife, Jeanne, in 1940.

He had 2 children (that I know of) with, I think, his first wife

His widowed wife, Jeanne, apparently died in 2007

I know he was still alive in 1979, as I have a photo of him, dated as such,..... but that is pretty much it.

After reading an earlier topic I understand that records in Canada can be hard to locate, however i would dearly love to find out more about him and his life, and death, in Canada.

I do have an extended family in Canada, but alas, their location and thus the valuable information they have also eludes me.

Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Stewart

UK return passenger list for the couple in 1958 doesn't help with where they lived in Canada, just where they were going for there 3 weeks in the UK. (9 Stratford Rd Liverpool 19 - shame it might help if we knew what area they lived in, in Canada.

Sorry should have said this was leslie and Gertrude.

Thanks Sandra

...... 19 Strattford Road Liverpool, that's were his sister lived so I think he must have paid her a visit.

I have a plethora of Family photos I sort of inherited, from the above sister, as she was frequently in touch but sadly none of them seem to have give any clues to the location. However after having another look at them I did find one of him apparently taken in 1984, so he was still with us then.

I'm not certain it's a clue, but I acquired a letter that was sent to another relative, that was giving the news of the death of his wife in 2007. The letter was sent from the "Royal Trust Corporation of Canada" who are located in Vancouver. I'm obviously not sure if their services cover the whole of Canada but I believe they were handling her estate.

Thanks dbree & Polarbear just read your post, after I posted the last message. Therefore I suspect the Vancouver "clue" may be a bit of a red herring.

Montreal,..interesting!!

Wow!, thanks again Sandra.  :)

I knew he had been in the RAF, but a burial place, now that is of interest.
