Dave Capps and Karen McDonald thank you both for making enquiries I didn't imagine it would be so difficult. I shall try Stadtarchiv Oberhausen when they open tomorrow and see if they can help thanks Dave. Karen I don't know if any other family members have extended the lease, so it looks like Granny Hedwig's grave is no longer there. Thank you  Karen for keep trying. It is so kind Regards Anne . :)

Yes indeed a VEG was only known in East Germany so you can forget that. But come to think of it, maybe your cousin meant FEG instead of VEG? Which is the Freie Evangelische Gemeinde Oberhausen. http://www.feg-oberhausen.de

Karen McDonald thank you so much for your personal assistance I tried to reply to your pm but couldn't never had one before. This information although not the outcome my cousin would like that is being able to visit Granny's grave. This other information is very useful and they will be able to visit the area. Thank you so much Kind regards Anne

Hi Anne,

You are very welcome! I enjoy a bit of a challenge.  :)

It's a shame they can't visit her grave, but maybe they would still like to see the area in which she lived.

By the way: I did actually receive a personal message from you, but it was just my message as a quote, and no additional message from you. So you were halfway there.  ;)

All the best,
Karen

Thanks Karen, that is a consolation I was half way there. They will definitely be visiting the area . wilf will be 70 very soon and cousin Karen was going to surprise him, but he found out and was thrilled about the trip. Wilf stayed with his Granny and Grandad Hess until he  was 6yrs old, so this will be a trip of memories for him even though he was a small child. Once again thank you so much for your kindness Karen and I shall send you an update when they return. Kind Regards Anne

What a sweet story. I hope they have a wonderful time (re)visiting Wilf's childhood home (which I expect has changed quite a bit!).

I am really looking forward to hearing how the trip goes.

Best regards,
Karen
