WOW, I've just been offered the chance to create an on-line family tree  :D

Slight problem - the surname they suggest I start with is NOT my birth surname, but my married surname  8)

I will NOT be taking up the offer  :-X

Do you want to name and shame the genius company that made this offer?
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Oh dear that's a shame. I initially got some good stuff off them but it all seems to have dried up now.

So what's the big deal?  Why should they know what surname you, or anyone else, is using?
