If you haven't done so already, I would suggest that you obtain the marriage certificate for Walter and Clara.

That will give you his father's name which you can then use to look for Walter in the census records.

If I have the right Walter in 1881 -living at 43 & 44, 43, White Friars Lane, Coventry St Michael with St John, Coventry parents are:-

William W Westley b.1842 and Matilda Westley b. 1846

All the family are listed as being born in Coventry.

I got a little confused and thank you for this,, my grandmother was Clara Horton, her mother was Elizabeth Marklew. I believe that the Whitefriars address for Walter is correct because the children listed on that census are names I recognize from what my late Mother told me. I will now order a birth certificate for Walter and Clara. I have looked at so many sites and they all want some money and I get very confused which one to use. You folks are most kind thank you for the time you have spent!! I am trying to get this information for my great nephew. again thank you all. ps there are so many William, Walter and Frank and combination of all of them so very confusing!!

I would be inclined to start by obtaining Walter and Clara's marriage certificate.  You will then have fathers names to check against birth certificates.

Then go on to get the birth certificates.
