Transportation to the Americas pre War of Independence

i have had a match via DNA with an ancestor who was born in America c 1860 with no lead ins at to who his parents were or if they were immigrants or born in the USA as well.  My question is this; are there records available for convicted felons from Britain for the time frame when they were still sending convicts to America?  and where might I be able to access it if it does exist?

What makes you think that the hypothetical ancestor was a deported criminal?

Thank you to everyone who made suggestions, much appreciated  Why do I think he was transported - I don't, but when you have a DNA match on a particular line and the furthest back they have gotten in the US was born there one needs to do some lateral thinking.  Plus I have 3 convict ancestors in Australia and from experience with them the former convict liked to re-invent their life story.  Understandable.
