I have a Thomas Gasson Born 1797 in Chiddingstone, Kent. His Father is Thomas too. I am looking for the father and his father.

The first one - yes

The 2nd just doesn't sit right that he would have been 50ish when he had children.
There is another Thomas born in 1770 20 miles away - age wise seems better.

I also can't find a marriage for Thomas & Mary.

Have you found any other Gassons born around 1797 in Chiddingstone, Kent with  Father Thomas to see when he had children?  Thomas could have been the last of many.

There is a Thomas Gasson s/o Richard & Alice baptised in 1770 in Lamberhurst Kent (within 10 miles of Chiddingstone).

A marriage worth following up on to check the original registers would be Thomas Gawson marrying Mary Berry, 20 Nov 1791 in Sundridge Kent.

I think Thomas Gasson s/o Richard & Alice baptised in 1770 in Lamberhurst Kent (within 10 miles of Chiddingstone) is a red herring as i can find a marriage for a thomas gasson in lamberhurst but to a different person.

In the meantime Richard Gasson Married an Elizabeth in Leigh, kent - 8 miles away - in 1742. What do think the chances are that he is the Richard I am looking for?

Actually it IS the right Richard as the record says he lives in Chiddingstone!!!
How do i now find his father?

So I have gone through familysearch and find my past and I cannot find a father for Richard Gasson who i image would have been born 1700-1720ish.

Where else can i look?
