You need to scroll down into the second half of the post to see some information about William Adams Ltd.  Don’t know if it will help much though.

Thanks Nanna, although it doesn't help it is still interesting to read about where it was manufactured. Paul

I presume as it was a doubles competition that the runners up would have received 2 medals rather than just one which they would have to share (you have it for one week, then I will have it for the next week  ::). I wonder if the other medal still exists.

Hi
Surely if it was a club medal it would say ( something like )

LTC for Club rather than LTA for Association?

On that basis alone, I like South of Scotland Lawn Tennis Association.
As per previous suggestion ?

I also like the sound of the South of Scotland LTA, but I found a press report of the 1927 championships (Dundee Courier 6 Aug 1927, p6). This lists the semi-finalists in the men's doubles as: W Pyemont and Lord Thirlestane; Dr Muir and JB Fulton; WC Youll & Dr Elliott; WHJ Horrocks and B Butler.

I haven't managed to find any other leads except a reference to a New Zealander named FW Jenkinson, who played in the NZ Championships in 1935: http://www.tennisarchives.com/player.php?playerid=35905
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Hi Ray, I like your thinking, looks promising. Will have to look deeper into it from that angle.
Many thanks, Paul

Thanks Arthur, looks like some upper class people in the semi's of '27. Mystery deepens but as I said to Ray it is worth looking into. Paul

A big thank you to everyone who replied to this thread and gave suggestions. This is just to let you all know that I emailed the (British) Lawn Tennis Association with the enquiry, they have been back in touch with me 5 times saying that although they can't find any information about the medal at the moment they are trying various avenues to see if they can 'stumble' across anything. Unfortunately their last reply was nearly 3 weeks ago so I have the feeling that the answer is going to be 'we can't find any information about the medal' which will be a shame as I was looking forward to finding out the history of the medal.

Ah well it's a nice medal anyway whatever the outcome. many thanks, Paul
