Do you know if they'll accept a print of a downloaded death cert or does it have to be the "real" thing?

The forms refer only to "a copy of the death certificate" which in my opinion is what a £7 pdf is.

A word of caution.  If you quote a number and date of birth and they don't match, the disclosures people don't know which one to go for and the process halts.  It is not up to them to do any research to clarify which man is meant.  I would telephone the RAF Disclosures people first and ask for advice.  The main switchboard is 01400 268163.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Would it be safest to just give your father's name, date and place of birth and leave it to the MOD to find the correct service record? If there are any anomalies they will let you know and will (I presume) return your £30.

Both ways would work equally well and would avoid a "no compute" answer.

Ronald Heywood 2209142
Philip Grenville Roberts 2209068
Joseph Isaacs 2209130

The numbers are all very close...close enough for them to have enlisted together.

I reckon that's them. Thank you!

Sounds like a plan. I'll be sending off on behalf of my Mum so that'll save £30  :P
