Thanks  everyone for all the information.
dbree-the details for Maria Ann are not correct as her father was Richard Pearce and mother Ann Doidge. The Guys appear on James' side via his mother Catherine Guy but the Doidges are a big family within Devon England. Maria was born in 1862 and although we all allow a year either side, 3 years is a bit more then I like to see.
Ruth is the enigma within this family and I hope to get to the bottom of that and also if possible that she may have family (as her and James Megraw had children) still out there in Canada that I can actually talk to, because it looks like Wilfred and Lottie didn't have any.
