Gallaher and Hiliard
« on: Thursday 21 March 19 00:31 GMT (UK) »
Seeking suggestions for research web sites. I'm in NZ. Annum Galaher my 2nd great grandmother born 1824 ? Baptised 17/8/1825 in Trinity Without church (?) Ballybricken Waterford Ireland  . Father Timothei Galaher  mother Annae Hiliard. Annum (Ann) married John Findlay (Finlay) May 1844 in Brompton, near Chatham, Kent England. John and Timothei were soldiers in 58th regiment of foot Rutlandshire. John and Ann went to NSW Australia I think with the regiment then on to NZ to fight Maori wars. I cannot find where John Findlay was born. His military serial no. Was 1368. He died 1851 leaving Ann with an infant and 2 very young son's in NZ. I am trying to find Johns place of birth. Also any relatives of Timothei Galaher and Annae Hilliard (Hilyard).
Appreciate any advice. Thank you Robin Finlay

Hi no I haven't. Not sure how to do that.  I thought he wouldn't get a pension as he died while in service ?. Thanks for your response.
