The Emperor of India Pub
« on: Thursday 21 March 19 06:15 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for any  information on this pub that was demolished in 1961.
It was built in 1904 as a 'London Stout House' then changed to Prince of Wales before becoming the Emperor of India.
It was located on the corner of Commercial Road (no 246?) and Paradise St, Landport Portsmouth.
I have tried to find it on 1911 census but failed to find anything.
One of my wife's relatives worked there before emigrating to Australia.
We think there is a tie in with the name 'Reg Sapsed' but not sure.
Any assistance greatly appreciated. David

It is showing in 1911 at the Commercial Road address you have quoted

To add to Solid Rock's reply the address is 132 Somers Road Southsea Portsmouth.

This looks like Reginald's birth registration
