GRO Online Index
« on: Thursday 21 March 19 07:12 GMT (UK) »
Have the GRO dropped offering the option of a pdf or certifcate on their online index?

I was searching the births for someone and noticed that there are no buttons for pdf or certificate on the record.

Have I missed some announcement regarding this?  I know the prices have gone up.

They had a notice on there earlier this week saying some thing like they were overwhelmed with orders and it may take longer for them to process.

I think the backlog they have was on orders without references.  I ordered a couple like that at the beginning of February and they took two weeks longer than the delivery date quoted

Ah right I see now.  They don't tell you that at the top of the page  ::)

I notice that another option is offered called MSF + Certificate.  Pardon my ignorance but what is an MSF when it's at home?  ???

Multi Lingual Standard Form.

On 6 July 2016, the European Parliament adopted Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 on promoting the free movement of citizens by simplifying the requirements for presenting certain public documents in the European Union. To comply with European Union legal requirements, the UK as an EU Member State is required to produce and offer customers a new product: a Multilingual Standard Form (MSF).

The Registrar General for England and Wales has the authority to provide an MSF that corresponds to a civil registration record held or issued by him and also for Certificates of No Impediments (CONIís) (issued by a Superintendent Registrar employed by local authorities) for a fee.

The MSF will translate specified fields from a civil registration certificate into the official language of the desired EU Member country e.g. birth certificate translated in to German if required by a customer.

Side tracked to a friendís very interesting Norfolk families. MORGAN, PRATT, HORNOR, SUCKLING, GLEANE etc. And in London DOWNES, du CROZ, MORGAN (same MORGANs as the Norwich lot)

Order a certified copy/PDF or Multilingual Standard Form of a registration entry using the GRO reference number if you already have it.

I see you have updated your post Mckha489  ;D

Ah is that what it means.  So the GRO are offering the means to order a certificate in whatever language you are familiar with.  I wonder how many languages they have!

Thank you for that Mckha.
