1841 and 1851 census, armagh
« on: Friday 22 March 19 19:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I've been looking at the above and think I've found my ancestors!
However, I'm a bit puzzled (being used to the scot census) it has name of applicant, who would that be? Householder? Also, only some of them show ages, did they maybe not note younger family members?
And lastly, I got this from family search site, is there somewhere that would have it more detailed?
Thanks for reading this,
Elaine

Sounds like you are looking at search forms for pension applications.
As people had no birth certs the census was searched to check ages of applicants.

You can't fish on a empty stomach so give the man one or two records so he knows how good it tastes.

It is what was on their Census Form for 1841 or 51...
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
