Yes was expensive but maybe she had some inheritance from Wm Tofield as he was a master carpenter?

From the entry at the top of page 2, Ellen Tofield's payment on the Emerald Isle appears to be 4.5.0 (p.s.d.)  Pardon my ignorance of the English monetary nomenclature.

Yes you are right - 4 pounds 5 shilllings. The article does say that there was also assistance for poorer emigrants from church members.
