John and Mary Ambrose marriage records
« on: Saturday 23 March 19 13:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi  Through Ancestry's family tree records I have found two source citations for a marriage of John Ambrose (of St Marys) to Mary Southgate 1799 - one on Pallots Marriage Index 1780-1837 hand written and printed below their names - PR ST JAS Bury St Edmunds.
The other is from  Suffolk, England, Extracted Church of England Parish Records - Reference Number:CS 436.B85 Roll:990630_1341/1420 dating the marriage 04/03/1799.
Does any one know what the printed letters mean on Pallots index, the ref and roll nos on the parish record or anything else John and Mary's wedding?

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

From the Suffolk Marriage Index; the marriage took place on 4 March 1799 at St James, Bury St. Edmunds.

Guessing that PR is Parish Register and ST JAS stands for St. James.
