Looking for births Sechelt and Vancouver British Columbia
« on: Saturday 23 March 19 21:02 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone,

Are Canadian births available online?

I am trying to find any children for two couples of my family tree,

Thomas William Blaylock Steele (1902 - 1976) and his wife Ethel Ruth Barker (1906 - 1979)

and

William Gibson Steele (1916 - 1969) and Constance Rosemary Clara Lockett (birth and death unknown)

First couple died in Sechelt and second couple died in Vancouver

any help or advice would be appreciated

my thanks

Births are generally protected for at least 100 years due to privacy laws. This link will give you an idea of what is available for BC. You may find a child has registered the death of a parent on any of the available death certs on the website.

Familysearch may have some sightly more recent births but I haven't looked recently.

Newspaper obits may also name children.

Added: you will find the death cert (2 pages) for Constance at the above website. Put just Constance Rosemary for first names, Steele for last, of course. The record gives her birthdate as well.

I can't read her ( the daughter in law- informant) signature at all.

thanks

from Constance's death record it is clear they had at least a son, since the informant is a daughter in law

I found a death record for Thomas's wife Ruth, they had at least one daughter

Sorry, didn't notice your note about Ruth.....deleted mine.

I couldn't make out the daughter in law's name either.
