Dolton family Kingsclere Hampshire need help
« on: Monday 25 March 19 03:17 GMT (UK) »
Just need some fresh eyes on my Dalton Family from Kingsclere Hampshire.  My great grandfather was Jessie Dolton b1861 son of John and Sarah Dolton née Jarvis.  That part is all pretty straight forward but John Dolton is the one causing me some issues for the past couple of years I’ve had him as son of James and Charlotte Dolton née Bassett however I’ve never found a baptism or any paper link to this family yet all James and Charlottes other children have baptisms.  Yesterday I found a baptism for a John Dolton 1813 Kingsclere Hampshire son of William and Jane Dolton this couple appear to have another son James born 1810.  I also found a marriage for William Dolton widower to a Rosanna Alloway in 1815 so perhaps his first wife Jane had died.  There also seems to be a death of William Dolton in 1830 in Wasing Berkshire and a marriage of Rosanna Dolton to Thomas Barnes in 1832 in Wasing.  I can’t seem to go any further than that but apart from DNA matches to other descendants of Jesse I also have a match to a descendant of Beatrice Dolton b 1896 daughter of William and Jane Dolton which then William is son of David and Mary Dolton and David is the son of James and Charlotte which is where I first started.  So I still seem to connect back to this same family.  It’s giving me quite the headache.  I have a tree on ancestry but if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them just need to be a bit more sure as to who John Dolton born abt 1813 is.

Blessings

Thank you for that so does that mean the John to William and Jane died?  Which means I’m back to square one with who my John belongs too?  All the census say he’s from Kingsclere so he must  belong to one of them :-) but who ... he names his first son David ... just not sure where he fits.

It says in the notes...
"HBI has a John Dolton, inf. buried at Stratfield Saye on 19 Oct 1813, could this be he?"
It maybe him but not sure, will delve further.

Stratfield Saye is about 18 miles from Kingsclere so I would'nt think it is him as Jane is buried at Kingsclere and looks like she died on the day that John was baptised. There is a marriage for a John Dolton in Kingsclere in 1840.

Okie doke well I would agree then I doubt that baby would be John perhaps Jane died in child birth.  The marriage in 1840 would be our John to Sarah Jarvis.  Then if William is his father and he’s remarried to Roasanna ... Jesse Dolton John’s youngest son does name a daughter Rosina perhaps he knew of Roseanna Who looks to have died the year before he was born she remarried after William died.

Just now need to work out where William fits so I can see where the DNA match to Beatrice Alice Dolton fits.

Thank you for your help it does make me feel pretty confident that all the trees that habe John as son of James and Charlotte Dolton are not correct ... probably related but not Johns parents.

Yes I think so I have that too ... he’s last seen in 1891 census with his daughter Harriet Mills née Dolton so he lived to ripe old age.  I just need to work out now where William fits.  So many trees do have it wrong.  I just assumed he fitted where I had him but thought it odd there was no baptism until found that one yesterday.

Thank you for your help ... I need R.I. see where William might have been born and which branch he might fit into.
