Isaiah Davies
« on: Tuesday 26 March 19 20:14 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
the 1861 census shows William Davies (33?), coalminer, born Ebbw Vale, and family; Ruth 32 born Carmarthenshire, Edward 16 born Sirhowy, William 2 born Merthyr, at 11 River Row, Llangattock.
With the family is Isaiah? Davies, brother, unmarried, aged 60,coalminer,  born Beaufort, Brecs.
RG9/4218/45/p35.
I cannot find any other trace of Isaiah, can someone help please?

Interesting pair on 1841 in Tredegar - although ages are out

Isaiah Davis    45

William's age isn't consistent - 29 in 1851 & 36 in 1861 - so that 1841 is a possible. He may have 'lost' a few years on marrying a younger woman.

Thanks again both,
I think 1841 says born out of county for both.
1861 says, Beaufort, Brecs for Isaiah and Ebbw Vale, Mon for William.

I’m being teased by a possible birth and baptism of William as; 2nd July 1820 and 23rd July 1820.
Parents David Davies of Llangattock and Hannah Hopkins of Cadigstone (Cadoxton?).
Their residence Beaufort.

Also, this wedding almost lines up; (Ann / Hannah)
David Davies of Cadoxton and Ann Hopkins of this parish (Transcript says Cadoxton Juxta Neath),
7th Sept 1800, fits Isaiah age?

Also another transcript shows this marriage in the parish of Cadoxton;
David Davies of Cadoxton, widower and Ann Jones of Neath, widow.
1836 28th April in Neath.
I cannot find the image for this one.

Still can’t find birth or 1851 census for Isaiah.

that isn't the correct baptism as marriage certificate has William's father as William, a collier. I think his age on the 1861 census is dodgy, he was aged 29 10 years previously and that may have been under as well. Certainly of full age, 21 & over, in 1843.
