Fanning family from Ballymitty Co Wexford
« on: Tuesday 26 March 19 20:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi to all,
I am initially trying to find the birth and parents of Patrick Fanning b abt 1876 in Co Wexford. I have him on census, his death record and his 2 marriages which both state his father as being William Fanning. Family stories have him coming from around the Ballymitty/Fethard area of Wexford but I can't find a likely birth record for him. In my research I came across a William Fanning b. abt 1871 living in Fethard as a postman and seemed a likely candidate for a brother of Patrick. His marriage also stated that his father was William Fanning. I can find no birth record for this William either. To make matters worse I find another Fanning called Aiden Fanning (which is a name that is in the family) b. abt 1881 living in Hilltown, Ballymitty with wife and children and his mother Bridget. His marriage also states that his father is William. Could these 3 be brothers and now the parents are William and Bridget. (Bridget is a strong family name). Could anyone point me in the right direction to find birth records for Patrick 1876, William 1871 and Aiden 1881.
Could anyone tell me if I can access local paper online (preferably without subscription) to check obits for the 3 boys where I might gain some insight into their heritage.
Thanks for reading and fingers crossed that someone can help find the lads a birth record.
Anjo
