73rd Regiment of Foot - Wishart
« on: Wednesday 27 March 19 07:13 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please guide or direct me to where I might find the military records for these two members of the 73rd Regiment who were stationed in NSW and Tasmania between 1810-1814 -

Name: Robert Wishart; Regiment: 73rd; Mustered from 7 May 1809 Rank: Private, for 7 years; Arrived per Dromedary or Hindostan 28 Dec 1809 at Sydney status: Military; Duty Began: 1810, Duty Ended: 1814, Military Company: 4, 3, 2, First Place of Duty: Parramatta 1810-1810, Second Place of Duty: Hobart 1810-1814, Left Regiment or left Australia: Departed, Depart per ship Windham, Apr 1814 Departed for Ceylon; Duty in Ceylon: 1814-1815

Name: James Wishart; Original Regiment: Tyrone Militia; Regiment: 73rd; Volunteered 26 Nov 1808 Rank: Private, for 7 years; Arrived per Dromedary or Hindostan 28 Dec 1809 at Sydney status: Military; Duty Began: 1810, Duty Ended: 1814, Military Company: 8, 7, 6, 5, Left Regiment or left Australia: Departed, Depart per ship General Hewitt, 28 Mar 1814 Departed for Ceylon; Military Other Remarks: Negombo, Duty in Ceylon: 1814-1815

I've got details of them through AJCP microfilms here in Australia regarding pay etc but I can't match them against any individuals for Attestment papers etc. Used FindMyPast and found the other Wishart, David who was in the regiment but the others just don't stack up against any of the results I view. Tried options with name variations etc but still no luck.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated...

Cheers,

Peter

The Regimental Muster Rolls are held at the UK National Archive in Kew, near London. As far as I know, they are NOT digitised.  You have to visit to view them.  Alternatively, you can ask (or pay) someone else to visit on your behalf.      I have an ancestor in 80th Regiment, and I was able to see his movements, quarter by quarter. I also received a full set of his discharge papers, that contain information about his Army career.
