Six rooms .... that's a good size then for that era .... toilet would be an outbuilding,  likely so too the laundry,  not likely in that count... so perhaps 6 could be :kitchen/dining/living/bath,  parlour (only used for visitors) bedrooms, hallway...

Directions for answering the question about number of rooms on the 1911 census:

"Write below the Number of Rooms in this Dwelling (House, Tenement, or Apartment). Count the kitchen as a room but do not count scullery, landing, lobby, closet, bathroom; nor warehouse, office, shop".

6 rooms is sizeable for 1911. 

Added: Now we need "Crazy" to return to let us know if we got it right - is George Loader the man who he says is living at Ash Hill Common. 

Yes I believe that should be the George Loader. Seems weird, a 6 room cottage. LOL

If you look at census entries pre 1911 the majority do not show exactly what type of accomodation the person is living in.  Some may show tent, caravan etc in the case of travellers but as far as I am aware there was no requirement to specify

That brings back memories of nearly a couple of decades ago when I started researching my family history.  A family story had an ancestor living in an east coat town but I couldn't find the surname so as I had a subscription looked at each separate following census.  My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw one group living "under a hedge"", then clicking onto the next page there was another group living "by the roadside".
