Mary Ann Gore birth registration
« on: Friday 29 March 19 17:26 GMT (UK) »
Mary Ann Gore was baptised at St Michael's Church, Tilehurst near Reading on 14 April 1844, daughter of Edward and Sally Gore.

I can't find a birth registration for her - her parents split up about this time so I'm wondering if registering her birth got overlooked in that situation.

Can anyone find the registration please?

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874 so there are many unregistered births prior to that date

I've found Mary's birth registration.

Edward Thomas GORE married Sally WESTON in Q3 of 1840 and their marriage was registered in Basingstoke district (Q3, 1840 Basingstoke, Vol 7, page 83).

Their child, Mary Jane GORE, had her birth registered in Basingstoke district too (Q1, 1844, Basingstoke, vol 7, page 64).

Hope this helps.

Paul

Thanks Vitmo, couldn't find it any of the searches I did.

Carole, yes had that birth registration and Elizabeth's older brother Edward Thomas in Q3 1841 again at Bradfield.  All BMDs at Tilehurst were registered at Bradfield - weird as Reading very much nearer, Bradfield just a small village at that time, probably smaller than Tilehurst.  Edward's wife Sally moved back to her home village when she separated from Edward and births there were registered at Basingstoke.

Another brick wall demolished thanks. :-)
