occupation
« on: Saturday 30 March 19 02:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi, whilst looking at a family census , the husband and wife are both showing as butter forol and egg merchants. Anyone know what "forol" is ?  I've looked online but can't find any references. I've also looked at the actual image and  the word forol isn't 100% clear, but does look like it. Can anyone think of something it could be if not forol. The census is 1901. They are William Rees, 1843, Margaret Rees 1842, Eleanor Rees 1885, from Llangadock. Thanks in advance.

Ahhh yes I can see it now, its not really important in the grand scheme of things,  but been driving me mad.  I had a feeling someone would read it differently. Thank you so much.

Agreed. "Butter, fowl and Egg" Before I actually looked at the image, I recalled an entry for a 19th C relative that put exactly that term for his livelihood.
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)
