You should be able to see the details in your account on the GRO website and see if they have sent it.  I waited for over 2 weeks after the estimated despatch dates for certificates without references, maybe marriages are also taking a while as they have to be paper copies and not PDF's

Certainly if you are happy with a PDF which you can print, it will be noticeably quicker than a paper cert, even without the additional delay in transit.  My recent PDFs are turned round inside a week.

But PDFs are only available for Births and Deaths? NOT Marriages ;D
Xin has ordered a Marriage Cert.

Sorry KG I was not clear I meant order details and whether it had been despatched.  It seems to be the paper copies that are taking the time.  I had ordered fairly recent death certificates at the beginning of February where I could not get the reference numbers and was given despatch date 21st Feb ( 3 weeks)  they were not despatched until 7th March

James Voysey Burridge married Annie Knight 7 July 1903, Lamesley, County Durham. It is looking like this couple ARE the parents of Alice Hilda Burridge. Hopefully by the time I get the Certificate of Alice's Birth I will have resolved her parentage. Both parents are on the 1939 Register so can now get their birthdates too.

Yes it is an oldie.. I am attempting to clear up..

as I  think she was a bit of a tale teller. :)

attempting to find actual facts for her.

seems impossible..

xin

Her name was Christiannah Abel when she married Thomas Argyle but she was supposed to be the Widow of Thomas Abel .. and I have her as maiden name 'James' from Cornwall. bn 1824.. her father was  ? reportedly a soldier Nicholas James (Tyack) so yes I am sure it has all been covered .. on here.. I was just hoping the Cert would produce that snippet..   never mind..  x

I wouldn't be too sure about that.  I have birth certificates for 100s of my ancestors and of the ones who are on the 1939 Register I calculate that at least 50% gave the wrong date of birth.  No idea why, did they not know if they were quite elderly by then, or trying to tell their partners they were older or younger than they were.  Who knows what is in people's minds when they fill in the forms.
